Robert De Niro took a break from the red carpet yesterday to celebrate the opening of the Nobu Hotel at City of Dreams Manila, a project realized with Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, producer Meir Teper and a trio of Melco Crown Entertainment developers.
The 321-room boutique hotel evokes an atmosphere it calls “fun luxury,” integrating Melco Crown Entertainment’s casino resort at Entertainment City, Manila.
A traditional sake-barrel cracking ceremony followed an official ribbon cutting before an over-the-top gala dinner, complete with a performance by Apl de Ap of The Black Eyed Peas.
Clarence Chung, Chairman of Melco Crown Philippines Resorts Corporation emphasized the hotel group’s commitment to luxury in an official statement: “We are convinced that the development of highly-exclusive, luxury lifestyle offerings is a key driver in inspiring growing numbers of the region’s luxury-leisure destination seekers to visit Manila and the Philippines. They rightly demand the very best in lifestyle offerings and Nobu Hotel Manila certainly ranks amongst the very best of the best.”
The Nobu Restaurant, crafted by Chef Nobu and helmed by Nobu Executive Chef Zachary Hillberry, will feature Chef Nobu’s international specialties, including Nobu-style sushi and black cod with miso, together with locally sourced dishes created by the hotel’s culinary team.
